I just thought that I would take a little time today to share a couple of my observations of late. I hope that everyone is staying busy with their computer repair services. I seem to have lately found some free and cheap advertising that has had an immediate payoff. I have been a Chamber of Commerce member for a couple of years now, and one of my competitors is even on the board of our local chamber. He is a nice guy and I try to buy parts from him when I can.
The point is, I asked for a ribbon cutting, and we scheduled one for a couple of weeks later. As soon as the chamber sent the picture and article over to the newspaper for publishing, (free to me) the newspaper then had me come over to their office. The newspaper has a special section for new businesses called “Open For Business”. This entailed a more in depth interview and professional photos for an article to be published later.
The ribbon cutting was published this Monday, and I have had one new customer everyday since, just because they saw my business in the newspaper. These two major ads cost me nothing, because I am already a member of my town’s Chamber of Commerce. There is a Chamber in about every other town around here, and I may check to see what it may cost to join others since I provide services in those cities.
I just wanted to share this tip with anyone who has not already looked into this. I am not as plugged in as maybe I should be, but if you want business customers, the Chamber events give a great opportunity for networking with other small business owners.
