Was talking to another computer business owner the other day and he was telling me about a new thing he is going to be doing with marketing. The idea was actually pretty good and I think it will actually work. So we talked about it for awhile and then at the end of the conversation he said something like “I need to do something about my current customers”. I asked him what he meant. What he was saying is he had not been keeping in contact with them like he should.
I hear this too many times from business owners. Obviously everyone is always looking at ways to get new customers and to market their business. But, while you are doing this it is of equal importance to never lose track of your customers that you have already done work for. Those customers are who got you were you are now and have helped pave the way for you to continue your business.
Believe it or not most of those previous customers are continually marketing your business without even knowing it and you are probably not paying attention to is like you should be either. If you have already done service for a customer who knows how many people they come across on a daily basis. Those are people that will probably at one point or another experience a computer problem and that one customer that you helped will be able to tell that person who to contact “that would be you”….
There are many things you can do for past customers such as newsletters, emails, even the occasional phone call. When you are working on your marketing/advertising campaigns always keep in mind customers you have already serviced. They are part of your overall marketing/advertising strategy.
